1. Mr. Nobody

Mr. Nobody is a really brilliant film starring Jared Leto and directed by Jaco Van Doemael. The movie starts with an old man who goes through various lives that he could have lived based on his various choices and decisions. Nemo Nobody (played by Jared Leto) is 117 years old and is lying in what it looks like, his deathbed. He looks back to some of the important moments of his life and we first see his parents getting divorced. Both his mother (Natasha Little) and his father (Rhys Ifans) are on the train platform and he needs to pick with whom he wishes to go. This choice of his is going to decide whether he will live in England or United States. With every choice there are a lot more possibilities related to the type of life that he might live. He also images how it would be to live with the three girls if he would have married them. There are many different paths that he considers in the movie but in the end he fails to distinguish between his memory and imagination.

2. Interstellar

Interstellar is a sci-fi scape film directed by genius Christopher Nolan which begins sometime in distant future, where Earth is no longer capable of producing different crops. The mankind is fighting for survival with Famine widespread and every technology and resource being spent on Farming and its betterment. Cooper (Matthew McConauhey), a former NASA pilot has turned into a farmer to support his children Tom (Timothee Chalamet) and Murph (Mackenzie Foy). Apart from this, Murph finds some strange things happening in her room and calls the entity doing this “ghost”. In an anomaly, the ghost gives Cooper coordinates to the secret base of NASA. In NASA, Prof. Brand (Michael Caine) along with his team, has been working on a mission to send a group of Astronauts into space to find a new home for the dying people. He persuades Cooper to pilot the ship and the group set off towards the wormhole placed by “them” near Saturn. The wormhole takes the ship to a new galaxy where they have to inspect three planets which show positive signs of sustaining life. However, they face a lot of hurdles and loose some members during the process. There are a lot more things that will surprise as well as amaze you. With brilliant visuals, mind-blowing story and outstanding performance by the actors, it's one of the best sci-fi movies of all time that will leave you speechless. This movie is one which everyone should watch before dying. 

3. The Machinist

The Machinist is a dark psychological thriller starring Christian Bale in a look that you would have never seen before. He plays the role of Trevor Reznik, who works in a factory as a machine operator. However, there is one problem with Reznik, he hasn’t slept in a year. Its late but the lack of sleep can easily be seen effecting his body and especially his brain. It looks like he is sometimes unaware of what is happening around him. In a scene, he is involved in an accident occurred in the factory. This incident turns his co-workers against him as well. Also, he starts discovering strange mysterious notes in his home and see people that do not even exist. All this is because of a dark hidden secret that wants to come out in one or the other way. The movie is directed by Brad Anderson and Cristian Bale’s performance in the movie is really incomparable. He's been consistent in acting from a long time and never fails in acting. 

4. Oldboy

Oldboy is a violent, suspenseful and offbeat movie with one of the biggest plot twist in movie history. The movie is directed by Park Chan-wook, a Korean filmmaker who tells the story of Oh Dae-su (Choi Min-sik) in the movie. Oh Dae-su is a father who has a bad reputation in the locality for womanizing. However, one day he disappears from the street and finds himself locked in a room. The room is more like a prison to him. There is a small TV which is the only way he can know what is happening in the outside world. Soon he learns from the news that his wife and daughter have been killed and police suspect that the killer is none other than Oh Dae-su. He gets the same dish to eat every day, but one day he gets one extra chopstick in his meal. He steals it and tries to dig his way through the room wall. He spends 15 years in the room without knowing what his crime was and before he could even finish the digging, he is released from the room with a phone and lots of money. Oh Dae-su is emotionally shocked and decides to find out the person who did this to him. On his quest, he meets a girl that helps him whenever he is hurt and they both fell in love. However, while looking for the person who kept him in a room for 15 years, a lot of secrets that are unveiled. The movie takes a major turn in the end that will definitely leave the viewers shocked.

5. The Pursuit of Happiness

The Pursuit of Happiness is a heart touching true story of a man called Christopher Gardner. Gardner has put a lot of money on a machine known as “Bone Density Scanner”. However, these machines are very costly and this is the reason why they do not sell as much as other technology. Gardner is unable to find the way to sell them and thus loses his wife, home, bank account and all the credit cards. Also, he is left out on the streets with his son. However, Gardner starts looking for jobs desperately and thus gets into a 6-month training program that he needs to pass before taking the position of a stockbroker. The movie displays the strong bond of love between the father and son and also how far a man can go to take care of his family.
