Shawn of the dead is a different type of movie. It is a zombie comedy. Shawn is a 29-year-old boy with a lot of problems in his life. He has been dumped by his long time girlfriend, his job is not going well, all in all, he is not having a great time in his life. He only has his best friend with him, Edgar. However, suddenly undead start rising who are hungry for human flesh. Now, Shawn must come back to save his mother and his girlfriend before the zombies reach them. He fights them with his friend on his side on the streets of London. No matter what he does, all his actions have a comic outcome. The movie was written by Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright, who is also the director of this classic comedy.

  1. The Hangover

How could our list be complete without The Hangover, if we are talking about best the comedy films? Directed by Todd Phillips and the first installment in the Hangover trilogy, it stars Bradley Cooper(Phil), Ed Helms (Stu) and Zach Galifianakis (Alan) who go for the bachelor party two days before the day of their friend, Doug’s wedding.  The four of them travel to Las Vegas in a Mercedes lent to them by Doug’s father in law or Alan’s father. They get the best suite in Caesar’s Palace and go on to the roof to celebrate. We see Alan’s proposal and the next shot is cut to the next morning. Phil, Stu, and Alan wake up with their worst hangover, having no memory of last night and discovering that their friend Doug is missing. Not only that, they also have a baby in the cupboard, a tiger in the bedroom, and Stu is missing his front tooth. The three friends try to put various bits of information together to find their best friend before the wedding and also to find out what actually happened the night before. All this stress and Alan’s never ending stupidity makes this movie funnier.

Superbad is a teen comedy movie directed by Greg Mottola and starring Michael Cera and Jonah Hill. The leads play the role of Evans and Set who are inseparable best friends in their last week of the high school. Both of them are mostly shunned by huge guys and popular kids, but somehow they get an invitation to a party being thrown by a popular Kid, only if they get alcohol for everyone. The plan out and along with their studious friend named Fogell, the try to get alcohol for the entire party so that they can impress Becca and Jessica. They are too eager to lose their virginity and start their sex lives before summer. However, way before that, the plan turns out to be a lot more difficult to execute that they have imagined. Do they get the liquor on time? Do they get Jessica and Becca? You will have to watch this funny movie to know that.

Young Frankenstein comes from the same director who made “Blazing Saddles” in 1974. i.e. Mel Brooks. After he got successful in spoofing the western people with his first movie, he came up with a black & white comedy named “Young Frankenstein”. In the movie, you see Gene Wilder in the role of Dr. Frankenstien’s grandson who is traveling to the city of Transylvania in order to inherit the estate that has been left for him by his father. Initially he is ashamed of what his father has left for him, however, later he is too sucked up in the madness once the monster is set free. Young Frankenstein is a superb comedy which was also turned into a Broadway play in the year 2007. The play ran for more than a year and was loved by almost everyone who watched it.
